Position Overview

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of existing strategic clients, exclusively composed of financial institutions such as banks and microfinance institutions, across the CEMAC region.

 

Ideally based in Cameroon, you will cover clients across the region (Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Chad, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea).

 

Your main objective is to maximize the value of existing accounts, by driving recurring revenues (licenses, maintenance, subscription and services) and identifying new growth opportunities, while building strong long-term relationships in a demanding and fast-evolving regional environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management & Development

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of banks and microfinance institutions
  • Develop deep relationships with key stakeholders (CIOs, CTOs, Business Heads, and Executive Management)
  • Identify and drive cross-sell and up-sell opportunities (new modules, upgrades, additional services)
  • Understand client challenges, priorities, and local constraints (regulatory, operational, financial)
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring long-term partnership

Software Solution Sales

  • Promote and sell SBS software solutions (core banking, digital banking, Data/AI Platforms, specialized banking components and related services)
  • Apply a solution selling approach tailored to financial institutions
  • Build and present compelling value propositions aligned with client needs (digital transformation, system modernization, regulatory compliance)
  • Manage the full sales cycle: opportunity identification, qualification, proposal, negotiation, and closing

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Lead commercial negotiations (contracts, renewals, pricing, licensing, maintenance agreements)
  • Manage contract lifecycle including renewals and extensions
  • Ensure rigorous follow-up of invoicing and secure timely payments, in sometimes complex environments
  • Handle sensitive commercial situations (renegotiations, outstanding payments, escalations)

Market Knowledge & Industry Expertise

  • Develop strong knowledge of the banking and microfinance ecosystem in the CEMAC region
  • Stay up to date with regional regulations (COBAC, BEAC) and industry trends
  • Adapt sales strategies and messaging to local market dynamics

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Delivery, Support, Product, and Marketing teams
  • Ensure alignment to deliver consistent and high-quality customer experience
  • Provide market feedback to contribute to product evolution and go-to-market strategies

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate pipeline and account information in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Provide regular forecasts and performance reports
  • Meet or exceed assigned revenue targets (quarterly and annual)
  • Drive accountability on business outcomes and client satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills in multicultural environments

  • Proven ability to sell complex software solutions with long sales cycles

Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, IT, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in selling software solutions to financial institutions (banks and microfinance)
  • Proven track record in account management and revenue growth
  • Strong understanding of core banking or digital banking solutions
  • Experience working in Africa, ideally within the CEMAC region
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce or equivalent)
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the region
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing large strategic banking accounts in Africa
  • Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks (CEMAC, COBAC, BEAC)
  • Experience in digital transformation projects within financial institutions
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational and relationship-driven environments
