Responsibilities

 

The Business Developer is responsible for driving the commercial development of SBS Software in West and Central Africa, focusing exclusively on hunting (new business). He/she identifies, qualifies, and converts new prospects into concrete business opportunities, in coordination with the pre-sales, product, marketing, and delivery teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a prospecting strategy to generate new business opportunities in the region.
  • Identify and qualify high-potential prospects (banks, financial institutions, fintechs, etc.).
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from needs assessment to contract signature.
  • Work closely with pre-sales teams to design tailored value propositions.
  • Coordinate responses to RFPs and formal consultations.
  • Build and maintain a high-level professional network (CxOs, CEOs, CIOs, COOs, etc.).
  • Represent SBS Software at events and conferences in the region.
  • Provide accurate reporting (Salesforce) and meet pipeline and closing targets.
  • Maintain active competitive intelligence and relay market insights to internal teams.

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • 10–15 years’ experience selling complex software solutions (preferably core banking or financial solutions).
  • Excellent knowledge of the West and Central African banking markets.
  • Proven experience in prospecting and developing new accounts (hunting).
  • Comfortable with long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.

Technical & Commercial Skills:

  • Strong understanding of digital banking transformation challenges.
  • Knowledge of banking technical environments (core banking, digital banking, etc.).
  • Ability to design targeted market penetration strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and closing skills.
  • Fluency in French and a good level of professional English.
  • Knowledge of public or multilateral financial institutions (AFDB, IFC, etc.) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong appetite for prospecting and business acquisition.
  • Autonomy, persistence, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Cross-functional leadership, ability to rally internal teams around business opportunities.
  • Strong results and performance orientation.

Education:

  • Master’s degree (business school, engineering school, or equivalent).
  • A specialization in finance, information systems, or business strategy is an asset.
